This paper presents results of a study conducted during the Seismic Risk Evaluation Phase of the Port of Oakland’s (California) Wharf and Embankment Strengthening Program (WESP). It estimates the response of existing piles with missing pile-driving records, to lateral load. The Pile Integrity Test (PIT) was used to determine pile tip elevations at the relevant berths, and a parametric study was conducted to determine sensitivity of the soil/pile/structure system’s performance to variations in pile length, soil and other parameters.
